Since 1828 a hotel has occupied the site now occupied by the Royal Marine Hotel. Originally know as Hayes Royal Hotel, William Dargan builder of the Kingstown Railway bought out the Royal Hotel in 1863 and built the Royal Marine Hotel designed by John McCurdy, who also designed many other buildings and churches of significance in Ireland during this period. The newly developed Royal Marine first opened its doors for business in 1865 and has been a Dublin institution ever since, and has hosted many Heads of State, Kings, Queens and celebrities including old blues eyes Frank Sinatra.

The Hotel closed for extensive re-development in 2004 and re-opened on the 22nd of June 2007 . The re-development includes a new banqueting and conference centre,  with a superberb ballroom which enjoys a panoramic view over Dun Laoghaire harbour, which is where the antiques fairs are held. Plenty of parking in the underground carpark (NOTE: up to 3 hours parking free on production of a receipt from the hotel bar, restaurant or coffee shop, otherwise hourly rate is €2.50).

DUN LAOGHAIRE is a coastal resort 6 miles  south    of     Dublin city centre. The Royal Marine Hotel is on Marine  Road,    overlooks  Dun   Laoghaire harbour and is adjacent to the Sealink  Ferry   Terminal.  The local   DART station is a few hundred yards away,  and   numerous buses  stop nearby,  including routes 7, 7A, 8, 46A and 111  from   the city centre.   About 50 dealers take part in this fair, selling    a wide range of antiques    and collectors items, including silver,   porcelain and glass, jewellery, Victoriana,    old advertising, Georgian   and Victorian furniture, linen and lace, prints,    books, coins and banknotes, postcards, military medals,    etc. The mix  of dealers exhibiting changes from fair to fair, and thus the    range  of items available at the fairs varies from one  fair to the next.

HOW TO GET THERE: Bus 130 from city centre (Lower Abbey St) every 20 minutes aprox., stops right outside the hotel. Local DART to Clontarf station (10 minute walk along the seafront).
